1965 Fender Showman 85W Amp Head w/ vintage tubes owned by John Neff

Here is a wonderful sounding ’65 Showman that would be a crown jewel of any tone purists’ collection.

 

The head has been gone through for a clean bill of health by Portland Pro Audio and slays most of the early 60’s mid 60’s Blackfaces that we’ve had in the shop.

This head also belonged to John Neff and was used on many records over the last 30 years. John has spent the last 40 years working with Walter Becker/ Donald Fagan, Journey, David Lynch etc.

A vintage Blackface 1965 Fender Showman Amp head in nice cosmetic condition. This is the 8-ohm single Showman version–originally paired with a 1×12 or 1×15 cabinet. These single Showman Amps are far less common than the 4-ohm Dual Showman heads. The amp is in nice shape for a 50-year old amp. It has typical tolex wear.

Showman amps are revered for their big, sparkly clean tone. As you turn the amp up the cleans turn smoothly into that classic Blackface grind. With lots of neutral clean headroom, the amp makes a great platform for pedals as well. This amp is a great player, and you will be hard-pressed to find a modern amp of similar quality without spending thousands more.
