Liner Notes:

“The Kinks are represented here in two stages: as a major British Invasion band of the mid ’60’s and the conceptual album artists of the early ’70’s.  The first part of the disc provides nine songs in pristine quality from the BBS Archives, wrote but never recorded.  The Live in concert tracks show what a marvelous live band they were- just check out the punch of “End Of The Day”!

Closing the disc is a lengthy excerpt from a concert on the Lola Tour recorded on a portable reel to reel with a shotgun microphone.  The highlights are the comeback hit “Lola,” the sardonic “Sunny Afternoon,” the gorgeous “Waterloo Sunset,” and the delightful “Last Of The Steam Trains,” one of many Ray Davies songs extolling the virtues of the past punctuated by a train like harmonica solo.  With the covers of the closing medley and Ray doing his best Johnny Cash on “Muswell Hillbillies,” this is a disc that will delight any Kinks fan.”
